BLACKPINK are back with a new single entitled “The Girls,” their first new music since last year’s BORN PINK. Listen to the song and watch its music video below. Its release coincides with the launch of BLACKPINK’s new mobile game.

Built around an irresistibly dancey, trap-inspired beat, “The Girls” serves as a platform for the K-pop group to do something they’re great at doing: empower women. “Stop sign, we’re burning it down/ Better watch out, we coming in loud,” goes the verse, before the chorus arrives with a bang… err, two bangs, literally. “BANG BANG/ Just playing around,” the group sings. “Don’t mess with the girls/ With the girls, with the girls.”

According to the press release for the song, “The Girls” ushers in a “new chapter” for BLACKPINK, and signals their efforts to reach a wider, international audience. The song arrives with a music video showing the band’s members — Jennie, Rose, Lisa, and Jisoo — as animations, strutting their stuff and performing the tune. Watch the video below.

Last year, BLACKPINK’s second studio album, BORN PINK, was released to positive reviews, and even earned the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200, making them the first all-female group to top the chart in over 14 years.

Earlier this year, BLACKPINK’s Jennie had a role in The Weeknd’s infamous HBO series, The Idol. In conjunction with that role, Jennie featured on “One of the Girls” along with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.

This past April, BLACKPINK made history by becoming the first Korean act to headline Coachella. Featuring their hits, breakout moments for their solo singles, and a heap of fireworks, the set was a memorable achievement, and set the ground for the group to bring their “BORN PINK World Tour” back to the United States for its final leg.

Speaking of — if you want to see BLACKPINK live, you’ll have one last chance to catch their “BORN PINK World Tour” before it wraps. The final performance will be Saturday night, August 26th, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
