‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ Spinoff Series Finds Showrunner

The Blacklist: Redemption, NBC’s upcoming spinoff series from The Blacklist, has tapped former Castle showrunner David Amann as executive producer/showrunner.

The planted spinoff episode of the mothership series, which introduced the new characters, was written by The Blacklist creator/executive producer Jon Bokenkamp and exec producer/showrunner John Eisendrath. Amann will handle day-to-day showrunner duties on Redemption, serving as executive producer alongside Bokenkamp, Eisendrath, John Fox and John Davis.

On Redemption, which has an eight-episode order, undercover operative Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) joins forces with Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen), the brilliant and cunning chief of Grey Matters, a covert mercenary organization that solves problems governments don’t dare touch. As they team up to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom begins his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past. The cast also includes Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress.

Amann, whose hire on Redemption was first reported by TVLine, previously served as executive producer/showrunner on the seventh season of ABC’s Castle.
