‘The Blacklist': Red Gets Psychoanalyzed – and All the Inkblots Look Like Genitalia (Exclusive Video)

Analyzing a man like Raymond Reddington (James Spader) — or whoever that guy really is — is surely no easy task, but on Friday’s episode of “The Blacklist,” it looks like a doctor is going to try to pick Red apart — and so will Red.
In a new clip from Friday night’s Season 6 episode, titled “The Ethicist” — which is exclusive to TheWrap — Red is chatting with a psychiatrist after being sent to a federal medical institution following his request to the court for a psychiatric evaluation because he says he doesn’t understand why he’s on trial — or what he’s done wrong.
“You don’t?” she asks him, to which he responds, “Not really, no.”
“Polluting rivers kills people — good people, killed for profit,” Red responds. “Raising the speed limit kills people to save time. The death penalty. Unjust wars have killed so many people. Whatever I’ve done, I’ve done because I thought it was just. So do I really understand the proceedings against me? No, I don’t.”
OK, it’s time for Red to undergo a series of tests then. But he warns the doctor, “if they’re designed to see whether I can distinguish between the behavior the system defines as criminal and that which I deem appropriate, I can’t.”
Alright then, first up is the Rorschach inkblot test.
“Ah, inkblots! I must warn you, they all look like genitalia to me,” Red says.
Here’s the official description for the episode: When Red (James Spader) is sent to a federal medical institution following his request to the court for a psychiatric evaluation, Liz (Megan Boone) and Jennifer (guest star Fiona Dourif) use his time away to search for a Blacklister they believe may have valuable information about Red’s past. Ken Leung, Becky Ann Baker and LisaGay Hamilton also guest star.
