Black Sabbath, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, More Get Lifetime Achievement Grammys

Dionne Warwick, Donny Hathaway, Sam & Dave, Julio Iglesias, and others to be recognized in 2019

Black Sabbath, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Dionne Warwick, and more will receive Lifetime Achievement Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced today (December 19). According to a press release, the Lifetime Achievement Award “celebrates performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording.” The presentation will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Los Angeles.

Others who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 are: the late singer Billy Eckstine, Donny Hathaway, Julio Iglesias, and soul duo Sam & Dave. In addition, Lou Adler, Ashford & Simpson, and Johnny Mandel are honorees of the Trustees Award, which recognizes “such contributions in areas other than performance.” And lastly, Saul Walker will posthumously receive the Technical Grammy Award for “contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording industry.”
