‘Black Panther’ Fans Go All-Out for Marvel Film’s Opening Night
“Black Panther” is currently plowing through February box office records, and fans have gone all-out to celebrate the first major superhero movie with a majority-Black cast and a Black director.
The Marvel film directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman hit wide release Thursday night, and before and after, fans went nuts on social media, celebrating the film’s success, and its cultural significance with photos from their screenings.
On display, an array of inventive outfits ranging from colorful fashions inspired by traditional African clothing to characters from the Wakandan Royal Family. Some even came dressed as an entirely different fictional African royalty, Prince Akeem from Eddie Murphy’s 1988 film “Coming to America.”
Here are some of the funniest, coolest, and most outrageous costumes fans have shared.
