The upcoming season will include a special sequel episode to “USS Callister.” The episode first premiered during season 4 and featured Jesse Plemons as a video game creator named Robert Daly who creates sentient digital clones of his coworkers using their DNA, making them bend at his will. However, when a new employee named Nanette Cole (Cristin Milioti) gets into the game, she encourages the other employees to revolt against him.

The episode has become a fan favorite over the years for its storytelling, star-studded cast and allusions to Star Trek. Following its release, the episode won four Primetime Emmy Awards, including outstanding television movie and outstanding writing for a limited series, movie, or dramatic special.

Per Netflix, the new episode will follow the events of “USS Callister” where Daly was left unconscious and trapped in his own game after his employees escaped. “Robert Daly is dead,” the release teases. “But for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning.”
