The Black List 2016 Scripts: Madonna Biopic ‘Blond Ambition’ Leads Rankings

Elyse Hollander’s Madonna biopic Blond Ambition is the top script on the 2016 The Black List, the annual list of the most-liked screenplays in town that have not been produced. The script, from the WME- and Bellvue Productions-repped Hollander, is set in 1980s New York, where Madonna struggles to get her frst album released while navigating fame, romance, and a music industry that views women as disposal. The script received 48 votes to top the list.

RatPac Entertainment, Michael De Luca Producutions and Bellvue Productions are the producers attached to Hollander’s screenplay.

The list, released earlier today, features 73 scripts. There was a three-way tie for second with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman’s Life Itself, Tony Tost’s The Olympian and Liz Hannah’s The Post.

The Black List was compiled from the suggestions of more than 250 film executivesl; the projects receiving mentions will have not begun principal photography during the 2016 calendar year.

Refresh for latest as the rankings are revealed (by number of mentions), followed by agency and management company rankings.
