The series finale of Black-ish aired Tuesday night, and after eight seasons it was an emotional night for fans. The plot was a whirlwind of closures and new beginnings as the central character, Andre Johnson (Anthony Anderson), quit his job and the family moved to a Black neighborhood.

Viewers and fans flooded Twitter with emotional messages of gratitude and celebration

While the series finale followed a few TV tropes — like the characters reminiscing in an empty space — it continued to celebrate and introduce Black culture. For example, the episode ended with the Johnsons, along with the whole neighborhood, having a New Orleans jazz funeral for their old house. Everyone danced and paraded down the street in a celebration of life.

After the show aired, the official Twitter handle sent out a message to the emotional fans.
