Black History Inspirations: Normani Shares Her Playlist of Songs That Give Hope

As part of Billboard‘s Black History Month celebration, we’ve asked Black artists spanning all genres to compile their own unique playlist exclusive to Billboard’s Spotify account. Each song they’ve chose represents their love for the culture across the diaspora — from childhood favorites to songs that make them feel free. Today, pop star Normani shares her soundtrack.

“Black history is part of the fabric of this nation; it is our responsibility to acknowledge it and make sure that every man, woman and child knows their value. Black history is not only a month, but should be a daily celebration of all the amazing contributions and sacrifices we have made as a people to this world we live in. In 2019 and beyond, black history to me means we now have the power to create our own truths about our past/present adversities, and achievements. It is important for us as black people to understand our past in order to propel our futures.”
