Black Friday: DJ Quik Takes An Honest Look At America

The Cali legend weighs in on the turmoil in America.

DJ Quik has had a heavy heart lately. As someone who has lived through extreme police brutality for years in the black community, the Cali spokesman took a couple minutes to speak his mind.

“I wrote this piece because I don’t like the tumultuous air surrounding Black People,” says DJ Quik about his powerful new song, “Black Friday.”

The Cali O.G. took to Soundcloud (Sept 28) to release the song, which directly addresses the rash of police killings of innocent black people in America. Quik clearly has had enough of reading about these murders — like the rest of us.

“Someone had to speak up for the African American community on this Black Friday and I elect Me to do so,” he also wrote.
