A new dance music event is headed to the beaches of Mexico next month, with the inaugural Ahabaja Music Festival. Curated by Austin Gavlak (DJ and founder of electronic music festival, Powabunga) and Art With Me, Ahabaja launches with Black Coffee, Bedouin, LP Giobbi, Stavroz and others, playing what organizers have dubbed a “24-hour experience” from sunset to sunset. The festival runs from March 30 to April 1 in San Jose Del Cabo with tickets on sale now at artwithme.org.

Billed as “a celebration of music, art and community,” Ahabaja Music Festival kicks off with a “warmup night” on March 30, before Belgian foursome Stavroz take to the decks with an sunset set on March 31. The music will continue through the night at various locations around Crania.

The name of the festival is “a playful tribute to Baja, Mexico,” Gavlak tells Rolling Stone. “The festival is being held in the incredible — and still slightly off-the-radar — city of San Jose del Cabo on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja.”

Grammy Award Winner Black Coffee is headlining the event. This is his first announcement since he suffered injuries from a “severe travel accident” earlier this year. While details about the incident have been scarce, a post to his Instagram account confirmed that he is recovering and receiving “the best medical attention.”

Other artists set to appear at the festival include Parallelle, Chambord, Mandrake, David Hohme, Facundo Mohrr, Roderic, Gab Rhome, Tommy Raffa, Gavlak, Julia Sandstorm, Carmel, Illich Mujica, Matt Caines, Dark But Gray, Jose Noventa, Cirque Noir and Golden.

In addition to the music lineup, organizers say attendees can take part in everything from yoga sessions to wellness workshops, along with “mind-bending art pieces and performance artists.”

All of the events are being curated by Gavlak and Art With Me, an international arts and culture collective known for their art, music, wellness and cultural festivals around the world. Pieces on the ground will also be co-curated by the family behind ZONAMACO, the largest art fair platform in Latin America. Judging from previous events from the organizers, expect sculptural installations, live art demos, full-scale projections and light shows, and plenty of food, drinks and dancing.

“Ahabaja is our tribute to a part of the world we have fallen in love with,” Gavlak says, about launching a festival in Cabo. “Art with Me and I want to bring our communities together on this breathtaking beachfront and pair its natural beauty with the sounds of incredible music and the sights of powerful art in nature. We want people to carry the Ahabaja energy and vibe with them long after the last set.”

Tickets to the Ahabaja Music Festival start at $249. Find out more at artwithme.org.
