Black Adam sees Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson joining the DC cinematic universe, as he takes on the role of the complex comic book character. The film is easily one of the more anticipated new movies for 2022.

Speaking to Men's Journal, lead actor Dwayne Johnson has revealed just how intense his training was for the latest DC film, which tells the story of a lesser-known comic book character.

He said: "The training we did for this movie was the most arduous I’ve ever done in my life. I promise you this: The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change."

Black Adam arrives in cinemas worldwide on October 21. It had previously been set for July 29 but was part of a large shuffling of DC superhero movies by Warner Bros.

Black Adam is set to be an origin story for the DC Comics superhero/super villain. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:

"In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years have passed and Black Adam has gone from man, to myth, to legend. Now released, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone."
