Blac Chyna, who now goes by her birth name Angela White, is opening up about her decision to separate her television persona from her identity.

While speaking to PEOPLE at Fox’s season 2 premiere of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, the 35-year-old reality star got candid about her recent decision to undergo a physical, emotional and spiritual transformation and let go of her “Blac Chyna” persona.

She acknowledged how the public may only know her from her headlines, and shared her hopes for fans to get to know her for her true authentic self.

"I am a human, and that I have feelings, and that I'm a work in progress, and that everything that you see with the naked eye is not always the truth," White said.

The Rob & Chyna alum explained how she feels she owes authenticity to the “people that have been supporting me for so many years.” No longer does she feel the need to keep up her “‘I don’t care’ attitude” when White admits, “To be honest, I actually do care.”

“Just by me being open and honest and vulnerable, I've been connected with so many other people,” she continued, adding how she’s received “emails and letters” since letting go of her persona.

“Angela White be getting letters,” she said, noting how she never received sweet messages from fans as Chyna. “I'd be getting Bibles, I'd be getting all type of cool stuff. I'm like, ‘Okay.’ I'm like, ‘People love me.’”

Back in March, White removed her facial fillers and documented the process — one of the many plastic surgery and beauty treatments she has removed since announcing her transition — on social media.

At the time, the Real Blac Chyna star said she was "so excited" to have her facial fillers taken out as she took her Instagram followers along for the ride in a video.

When asked what inspired this journey, she shared, "First of all, I'm tired of the look. And it's just not flattering, it's not what I look like. It totally changed my face, and I'm just ready to get back to Angela."

"Blac Chyna's Blac Chyna, you know what I mean?" she added. "I feel like I've outgrown that, and it's just time for a change. And I just want to be good."

The "Can't See Me" artist said that with her fillers in, makeup artists would frequently "contour so it would be even more dramatic," noting, "So, I would be looking like Jigsaw," a reference to the Saw character.

"I'm on my journey right now, and I just want to start fresh, clean," she explained. "And shout-out to the girls who wanna get fillers, we're not saying, 'Don't do it.' But just for me, I'm just kinda over the whole face."
