Björk Announces New Single 'The Gate'

Out September 18, it’s “a love song ... in a transcendent way,” she says

Björk has announced a new single, “The Gate,” coming September 18. It follows the recent news that her new album is “coming soon.” Check out the artwork for “The Gate” below. On a listing page for the vinyl—out September 22 on One Little Indian—Björk writes: “the gate is essentially a love song, but i say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way. vulnicura was about a very personal loss, and i think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. it’s about rediscovering love – but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.”

Since releasing 2015’s Vulnicura, Björk has released the Strings version of the record, as well as a live version. Last year, she launched the Björk Digital virtual reality exhibition, which features several VR videos for songs from Vulnicura. She’s since released a career-spanning songbook called 34 Scores for Piano, Organ, Harpsichord and Celeste.
