Biscuits & Jams coming to Downtown Memphis: Get ready for brunch, cocktails, music & more

Biscuits & Jams is bringing its popular brunch fare to Downtown Memphis.

The second location for the Bartlett-based brunch restaurant will open in Hotel Indigo in early 2024.

“The hotel wanted to partner with someone who could really do breakfast well,” Biscuits & Jams owner Monique Williams said. “And that’s what we do.”

Biscuits & Jams will take over the space at 24 N. B.B. King Blvd. that was formerly 3rd & Court Diner. Williams said she hopes the new restaurant will open by March.

It’s all about brunch and fun at Biscuits & Jams

“You can jam to music while you eat biscuits and jam,” said Williams of the inspiration behind the name of eatery that serves breakfast, brunch and lunch.

On the menu at this restaurant that opened in Bartlett at 5806 Stage Road in 2021 are buttery Southern-style biscuits, frittatas, eggs benedict, French toast and — of course — an assortment of both sweet and savory jams. Tunes are playing every day, with live music on the weekend.

The concept also includes a bar with creative and fun brunch-themed cocktails.

What to expect at Biscuits & Jams at Hotel Indigo

Williams said the 100-seat diner on the ground floor of Hotel Indigo will be transformed into Biscuits & Jams.

Expect the restaurant’s signature décor including pale green walls, white subway tiles, and whiskey-colored leather seats. Tying into the “jams” music theme, photos of blues and R&B musicians like B.B. King, Elvis Presley and Tina Turner will line the walls.

One aspect Williams said she plans to keep is the restaurant’s open kitchen. “An open kitchen elevates the experience,” she said.

Biscuits & Jams will be the official food service establishment for the 118-room hotel, serving breakfast, brunch lunch and an evening dining service Williams calls “brinner.”

“It’s brunch somewhere in the world all day long,” said Williams. “It’s what we do best.”

The menu will include all the Biscuits & Jams favorites, plus additional items.  Williams said to expect more Creole dishes (their signature Shrimp & Crawfish Creole Eggs Benedict is a customer favorite), pasta dishes and a new steak for the dinner menu.  A daily happy hour will also be part of the new concept.

Plans for The Juke

Williams will also be taking over the basement lounge at Hotel Indigo. Originally the home of the Memphis Sounds Lounge, the basement will be reopened as “The Juke.”

Expect a classic Delta Southern juke joint experience.

“This is all a love story for my grandmother,” Williams said. “Biscuits & Jams tells one story — my memories of my grandmother making homemade biscuits and jams. The Juke will tell the story my cousin — who is also my business partner — remembers. Our parents were born 19 years apart, so our memories are different. My grandmother made peach brandy and even moonshine later in life.”

The 1,100-square-foot space will be completely changed to embrace the new theme.

And, as one would expect, the bar will feature moonshine-based drinks.

Williams said that the upstairs restaurant will open first, and The Juke will come later in 2024.

“We have our own identity — and I think that’s why Hotel Indigo liked us,” Williams said. “Since October, we have been working together on concepts, taste testing and having conference calls to make sure our brands work together.”

James McCraw of Avison Young was the broker for Biscuits & Jams. Attorney Corliss Shaw, Esq. of The Shaw Firm also represented Biscuits & Jams in the deal. Shawn Massey and Sidney Seale of TSCG were the brokers representing Hotel Indigo.
