Biogen soars on Alzheimer's drug trial, JPM denies Deutsche Bank interest, Facebook in talks with Ronaldo

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

Biogen (BIIB) is soaring after the company and a partner reported hopeful results in a test of an alzheimer’s drug. Biogen said the drug slowed Alzheimer’s symptoms over 18 months. The full data has not yet been released and some are skeptical, since a similar study showed no benefit after 12 months.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is denying a German media report that it’s looking to buy a stake in Deutsche Bank (DB). A magazine said JPM and China’s ICBC were considering investing in the troubled bank. That sent Deutsche shares soaring.

Facebook (FB) may be eyeing a big soccer star for its next project. Variety says Facebook is in talks with the people behind Cristiano Ronaldo for a docu-series to air on Facebook Watch. It could earn him a payout of around $10M. Ronaldo already has more than 120 million followers on his official Facebook page.

There’s more trouble for Ford (F) in China. The automaker says sales slumped 38% in June pushing overall sales down 25% from a year ago. Ford recently appointed a new sales chief in China and warned it might not regain momentum there until next year, when new models arrive.
