Joel's 100th consecutive show is a milestone of his record-breaking residency, which began in January 2014.

The "Uptown Girl" singer first performed at MSG in New York City on Dec. 14, 1978, and he later set the record for most consecutive performances by any artist (12) in 2006 — a record he's since broken.

"After 10 years, we've done it," Joel previously told PEOPLE at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) in 2023 of his achievement. "I mean, I didn't realize it would last 10 years."

"And I don't know how many shows it is, I'm sure somebody's keeping track of it somewhere, but I'm amazed that we went this far, and I'm honored," he added.

The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden — The Greatest Arena Run of All Time will air on April 14 from 9 to 11 p.m. EST on CBS. It will be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ as well.
