Billy Corgan’s Tea Shop Is Closing

He plans to re-open Madame Zuzu’s in another Chicago location

In 2012, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan opened up Madame Zuzu’s, a tea shop located in suburban Chicago. At the time, he described the teahouse as “a social hub for the community, blending tea drinkers with the arts.” Now, Corgan has announced Madame Zuzu’s will close the doors at its current location on March 18. He wrote the business is being “forced to move for various reasons which involve tenancy but certainly nothing to do with the strength of the business (which thanks to all our great customers has been robust and steady).”

While Madame Zuzu’s is closing for now, Corgan plans to re-open the tea shop in another location in Chicago “very soon, remaining in Highland Park, if possible.” Zuzu’s will hold a closing party on March 18, with “free tea that day for everyone that comes by, and special last-day sales.”
