Bills, Jaguars in Twitter dispute over unused tickets for Sunday's playoff game

The first playoff game in Jacksonville in 18 years apparently wasn’t sold out as of Thursday morning.

The Jaguars posted on Twitter Wednesday about a limited amount of tickets would be available for purchase Thursday afternoon.

Note the copy referring to unused inventory from the Buffalo Bills, their opponent for Sunday’s wild-card matchup.

The Bills, who are ending their own 17-year playoff drought — home or away — did not appear to take kindly to the suggestion that their fans have not done their part.

Wherever the tickets came from, demand for Sunday’s game does not appear to be an issue. The Jaguars received a common-sense exemption from the NFL to remove tarps from some upper-deck seats that have been covered during the regular season after their initial batch of tickets sold out.

Jacksonville.com reports that the tickets made available by the tarp removal sold out in six minutes and that demand on secondary sites for the Jaguars-Bills matchup is higher than any other wild-card game.

So the extra tickets do appear to be somewhat of a boon to demand side of the ticket market. And they have inspired a little extra sizzle to a pair of teams and fanbases who have been desperate for a taste of the playoffs.
