Billie Eilish is going green for her headlining set at Lollapalooza, which will be powered by a solar farm.

The climate-friendly performance is part of the Music Decarbonization Project co-founded by Eilish in partnership with the environmental non-profit REVERB. The zero-emissions battery systems partially powering Eilish’s set will be charged by a temporary on-site solar farm built on the festival grounds in Chicago by Overdrive Energy Solutions.

“We hope and believe this will be a watershed moment for the music industry,” said REVERB Co-Founder/Co-Executive Director Adam Gardner in a statement. “There are real climate solutions available right here, right now. By showcasing this technology with one of the biggest artists in the world, on one of the most revered festival stages, we’re accelerating the necessary transition toward a decarbonized future, for music and beyond.”

Eilish previously teamed with REVERB in June 2022 to launch a six-day climate summit in London called Overheated. Last year, she joined thousands of musicians in launching the US chapter of Music Declares Emergency, a climate group founded in 2019 to reduce the carbon footprint of the music industry.

Earlier this month, Paramore brought Eilish out to perform “All I Wanted” in Los Angeles after vocalist Hayley Williams previously joined the pop superstar to sing “Misery Business” at Coachella. Eilish recently dropped the piano ballad “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie soundtrack, and her last album was 2021’s Happier Than Ever.

In addition to Lollapalooza, Eilish is slated to headline festivals including Osheaga, Reading & Leeds, and Music Midtown. Grab your tickets here.
