Billie Eilish Says 3-Hour Concerts are “Psychotic”

Unlike some of her popstar counterparts, Billie Eilish won't be taking the stage for three hours anytime soon.

To celebrate the release of her third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft, Eilish has been doing interviews, attending listening parties, and sharing BTS on social media for the album and forthcoming tour. While fans have been excited to see more and more of her, some people raised an eyebrow at her latest comments about long concerts.

While taking live fan questions on the music app Stationhead, Eilish was asked if she would ever do a three-hour concert — much like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have done for the Eras Tour and Renaissance World Tour, respectively.

"I’m not doing a three-hour show, that's literally psychotic,” Eilish said, according to fan recordings.

She continued: “Nobody wants that. You guys don’t want that. I don’t want that. I don’t even want that as a fan. My favorite artist in the world, I’m not trying to hear them for three hours."

Of course, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift didn't invent long concerts — legends like Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney have been known to perform for many hours — but fans couldn't help but give Eilish the side eye about potentially throwing shade at Swift and Beyoncé. Swifties in particular think that Eilish was talking about the Tortured Poets Department singer after she made other comments that may have been directed at Swift.

Last month, Eilish faced backlash from Swift fans after she criticized other artists for releasing multiple colored vinyls of the same album to up sales and “gets them more money.” She cited concerns about the climate crisis and pointed to the single-use plastic that vinyls are wrapped in as an issue. While she didn't name one artist in particular — like Harry Styles, Beyoncé, or Olivia Rodrigo, who have all released multiple vinyls — many fans believe she was shading Swift. Within the past year, Swift has released five colored variants of 1989 (Taylor's Version) and is currently selling five variants of The Tortured Poets Department.

With that in mind, fans were not happy with her statement about three-hour concerts and expressed disappointment online. “You dont like long albums you dont like going on tour you dont like earnestness in your music like what do you like mama are you in this profession for shady af comebacks,” one user wrote.

“these pretentious statements are getting tiring. ‘nobody wants that’ are you the authority on the zeitgeist of today? if you don’t have the material and work ethic to put on a 3-hour show, say it’s not your thing. insulting the craft of other artists like this is pathetic,” another said.

Billie Eilish has not responded to the criticism or any “feud” rumors between her and Swift.
