Billie Eilish gets 'vulnerable' in new single and video 'Your Power' from follow-up album

Billie Eilish is giving her fans a taste of what's to come with the release of her single "Your Power."
While many of Eilish's songs give dark and moody vibes, "Your Power" starts off with the light and happy acoustic guitar strum. However the lyrics bring in the melancholy sounds often associated with the "Bad Guy" singer. The song revolves around unhealthy power dynamics within a relationship. Two verses explore a relationship where a woman is "ruined" and kept "in a cage" by a main subject who has the power. In the chorus, Eilish gives a warning:
"Try not to abuse your power / I know we didn't choose to change / You might not wanna lose your power / But having it's so strange."
In an Instagram post, Eilish wrote she felt "vulnerable" releasing the song because she holds it "close to (her) heart."
"This is about many different situations that we’ve all either witnessed or experienced. i hope this can inspire change. try not to abuse your power," she wrote.

Eilish released a self-directed music video to accompany the single. In the video, the 19-year-old singer appears in a Simi Valley desert and is stifled by an anaconda that tightens its grip on her body as she sings, "Does it keep you in control? / For you to keep her in a cage?"
The "Everything I Wanted" singer is also seen in the video rocking her new blonde look, after wearing a signature black and electric green ombre hairstyle. On March 17, she revealed her golden locks on Instagram with the caption, "pinch me," a likely reference to ditching her neon green streaks just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

On Tuesday, Eilish announced her second album, "Happier Than Ever," will be released July 30. Like her explosive debut album, “Happier” is a collaboration with her brother Finneas O'Connell.

Eilish’s 2019 debut album "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" swept the top four awards at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Her winnings made her the first woman (and the youngest ever) to sweep. This year, she collected even more Grammys during the COVID-19 delayed award show winning record of the year again with "Everything I Wanted."
On top of new music, Eilish has been working on film and books. Her Apple TV + documentary "Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry" debuted in February to high acclaim. Her self-titled photo book comes out May 11. In it, she takes readers on a visual narrative journey through her life, on stage and off, via hundreds of never-before-seen photos.
