Billie Eilish has been slowly but surely teasing a new musical era, changing her Instagram profile pic to a bright blue circle and putting up posters reading "DO YOU KNOW HOW TO BEND?," resplendent in black and cobalt blue. Now, Eilish is teasing what may be yet another hint at the forthcoming next chapter, and it's not a hair color or a new aesthetic but a tattoo.

Billie Eilish shared a quick selfie on her Instagram Stories Close Friends, revealing what appears to be a fresh new tattoo on her lower stomach. Though part of the tattoo is hidden by her clothing, fans think it could say "hard & soft" in a large, looping cursive font, but it's hard to tell from the angle and the swooping font.

But wait! We have seen a peek at this tattoo before — Eilish gave fans a first peek at the midriff design at the Variety hitmakers event on December 2, 2023. At the time, the word "hard" was clearly visible near her jeans, so the "hard & soft" theory does make sense.

That said, we still haven't gotten a full look at the complete design yet, so maybe Eilish's next Close Friends story will reveal more details. It could also be a strong hint at what's to come from the Oscar- and Grammy-winning musician.

Eilish already has a bunch of tattoos, including a huge back piece that she got in 2023, a dragon on her hip, the word "Eilish" on her chest, and fairies on her hand. Rest assured, we'll be staying glued to Eilish's little green circle on Close Friends for more hints at the tattoo, her new album, and its aesthetic.
