Billie Eilish has officially been confirmed as the musician who will create and sing the theme song for the new James Bond film No Time to Die. At just 18 years-old, she will be the youngest performer to ever create the title track for the movie franchise. The news was announced by both Eilish and the official James Bond twitter accounts.
"The #NoTimeToDie title song will be performed by @billieeilish. Billie has written the song with her brother @finneas and is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song," The 007 account tweeted.
Eilish released a statement about the opportunity.
“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock," she said.
Finneas added, “Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”
She also announced the news on her Instagram account, writing, "'No Time To Die' JAMES BOND. AND I AM SINGING THE THEME SONG. WHAAT."
Fans couldn't handle the news. "I’m gonna die. My life is complete. This is all I ever wanted. Thank you," one said.
"New song, new album, blohshy necklake, colaboration.. I dont know but I cant wait!!!!" another wrote.
PopCulture.com has more details on the newest installment of the franchise:
Last month, the first trailer for No Time To Die was released, giving fans their first extended peek into the head-to-head drama between Daniel Craig and Rami Malek. The movie finds Bond having left active service and living a quiet life in Jamaica when his retirement is interrupted by his friend, CIA officer Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright). Leiter asks Bond to help him find a missing scientist, who was mysteriously abducted. On his mission, Bond will reportedly face "a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before."
No Time To Die will feature Craig's fifth and final performance as the super spy and will bring back other past characters played by Wright, Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Q), Rory Kinnear (Bill Tanner) and Seydoux (Dr. Madeleine Swann).
