The 2023 Billboard Music Awards aired on Sunday night (Nov. 19) in celebration of the brightest stars across the brand’s storied charts. An array of diverse performances arrived through Mexican star Peso Pluma, Colombian superstar Karol G, and more. Mariah Carey even performed her smash Christmas single “All I Want For Christmas Is You” for the first time on the award show, and was honored with the Chart Achievement Award.
“I kinda have to admit that some of the most memorable times in my career have been connected to Billboard and the BBMAs,” Carey said after receiving the award. “This award is particularly special to me because the song itself changed my entire life. When I first sat down to write ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ I never could have imagined that I would be standing here three months later accepting this special award. Thank you to everyone who let this song become part of their holiday soundtrack each year.”
Nicki Minaj, SZA, Drake, and Beyoncé each took home numerous trophies in the R&B, rap, and dance categories. Accolades celebrating Top Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, and others were presented during the award show.
