After the first day of Billboard Hot 100 Festival saw stunner sets from the likes of Zedd, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Tinashe and more, day 2 kicked off with a nice ocean breeze that helped offset the 80-plus-degree temperatures.
From rising acts to chart-dominating hitmakers, here are some of the highlights from Sunday (Aug. 20) at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater.

2:45 pm: Long-haired trio Cvbz took to the Beach Stage on Sunday (Aug. 20) for a breezy, feel-good live performance that beautifully complemented the view of Jones Beach next door. The crowd was at peak energy during the band’s playing of their upcoming single “Be Somebody.”
3:07 pm: After a lengthy and elaborate freestyle dance session onstage, complete with a handful of breakdancers, hip-hop duo Ayo + Teo finally stripped off their signature masks for “Lit Right Now.” The dancers remained onstage throughout the set while the brothers — the first to hit the main stage on day 2 — treated the early arrivers to a visual and sonic treat. “You know what time it is?!” the two questioned before launching into their Hot 100 hit “Rolex.”
3:35 pm: Le Youth took the stage in all black, rocking a Jackson #34 jersey. The theme of the set was more grooves, less drops. He delivered a head-bobbing house performance that got everyone moving, most notably a Lil Yachty look-a-like who knew every beat and lyric. Things got kicked up a notch when Camelphat’s “Constellations” was mixed in with The Weeknd, and then Justin Bieber. Le Youth brought the poolside Ibiza vibes to Jones Beach.
3:45 pm: “If you guys know the words to this song, sing it. It’s called ‘Desperado,'” said Maggie Lindemann, the fast-rising, L.A.-based pop singer presiding over the Sun Stage. Backed by her guitarist, bassist and drummer, Lindemann gave the Rihanna track a rock-tinged spin.
4:22 pm: While Lauv’s career is still in its early stages, that’s also the most exciting part. He’s already earned himself two viral records that have topped 100 million Spotify streams. The heartthrob commanded the stage from the beginning and sang in between girls screaming his name and lyrics to his song, “I Like Me Better,” along with “The Other.”
4:35 pm: Echosmith had time for one more song on the main stage, and they went with their biggest hit, “Cool Kids.” Underneath the sweltering beachside sun, the alt-pop quintet serenaded a mid-sized crowd with the synthy, instantly-recognizable single.
4:49 pm: “We just released our new EP, we want to perform it front to back if that’s cool?” Judging by the screaming fans, it was. Pop duo <a href=”/artist/6229494/jack-jack/chart”>Jack & Jack</a> then ran through the five-track Gone, and had the very vocal young girls in the crowd swooning extra hard during “Falling.”
5:03 pm: Spencer Ludwig addressed “all 12 of you” in the rather thin crowd for his early evening set. The pop trumpeter acknowledged that his set time conflicted with DJ Khaled — who was playing the main stage at the same time — when he playfully asked “DJ Khaled who?!” Ludwig then dove right into his jazzy track “Legend” that showcased his impressive skill on the trumpet, and surely made everyone within range of his set forget about who was playing one stage over.
5:25 pm: Twenty-five minutes after his scheduled start time, the crowd ran to the side of the stage, suggesting that DJ Khaled was on his way. But when the crowd cleared it was a baby carriage — Asahd, the real star of the show, was making his way out. Khaled followed moments after.
6:03 pm: Aside from demonstrating his impressive vocal abilities (in spite of his Auto-Tune affection), T-Pain also proved his Billboard chart knowledge during his packed Hot 100 set: “I checked. I’m the n—a with the most No. 1s at this whole festival.”
6:46 pm: Before singing “I Have Questions,” Camila Cabello revealed it was the first time she’d performed it live. “It has so much weight to me,” she said. “It’s about someone I thought would be in my life forever…but then you wake up from that dream.”
7:07 pm: In front of a very young, very excited crowd at the Sun Stage on Sunday, Lil Yachty dropped into Kyle’s “iSpy,” on which he’s featured, having told the crowd to turn it up a bit just before he started. And the familiar hook did it; when many rappers drop the beat and expect the crowd to rap the song back to them they’re disappointed, but for Yachty every voice was in unison. “Can I get a ‘Lil Boat’?” He asked the crowd afterward, to a rapturous response.
8:14 pm: Playboi Carti was confident in his delivery throughout his set, despite his new arrival on the mainstream level, and showed it during “On Go.” But it was when he did “Magnolia” that kids came running and singing.
8:00 pm: Right out of the gate, Marshmello dropped Kayzo’s rail-riding heater “Whistle Wars,” which ran alongside a stream of pyro shooting out of the front of the stage. As per usual, Marshmello was decked out in all-white, the only pops of color glowing from his hi-tech helmet.
9:10 pm: It’s safe to say Cash Cash drew in the biggest audience from the Beach Stage this weekend. The crowd roared in unison to their new record, “All My Love” with Conor Maynard. To break up the confetti action, the group instructed the crowd to take out their lighters (or iPhone flashlights) for a rendition of “Wonderwall” by Oasis.
9:50 pm: As Young Thug brought his set to a close, Lil Yachty’s guest turn was followed by another surprise appearance from a 19-year-old people can’t stop talking about. Bella Thorne – who had been present for the first day of Hot 100 Fest for Blackbear’s set – joined Thugger onstage, dancing in her mesh skirt to his track “Best Friend.” Judging by her killer moves, Thorne is a low-key dancefloor MVP.
10:10 pm: Following her guitar-wielding, crowd pleasing solo performance earlier that evening, Camila Cabello returned to the main stage to join Major Lazer for their arresting collaboration “Know No Better.”
10:13 pm: Waka Flocka Flame came running on stage swinging his dreads in circles around his head. The headlining set that closed out the second and final day (and competed against Major Lazer on the main stage) saw a surprising amount of head banging and dabbing from Waka, and a surprising lack of smoke clouds — he didn’t even have anything to puff during “TTG.” Though he was clearly trained to go as the song suggests, evidenced by his explosive stage presence, it’s possible he wasn’t (for once) higher than Bobby Brown.
10:47 pm: Toward the end of their raucous set, Major Lazer brought out special guest J Balvin, who worked up the crowd with his massive hit “Mi Gente” – followed by Major Lazer’s own smash “Lean On.”
