Writer’s block is a nightmare — quite literally in Shudder’s newest horror comedy, Destroy All Neighbors. Out Jan. 12th on the streaming service, the flick stars Alex Winter of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure fame as a beastly neighbor and Jonah Ray Rodrigues (Mystery Science Theater 3000) as a prog rock musician just trying to finish his record unharassed. It’s like Seinfeld and Kramer but with more blood.

The film’s trailer promises a gory good time in the B-movie tradition of Foo Fighters’ Studio 666, featuring myriad monsters, reanimated corpses, and a nearly unrecognizable Winter as neighbor Vlad, who also refuses to die. Man Man’s Ryan Kattner also has a cameo, and composed the soundtrack with bandmate and comedian Brett Morris. According to Kattner, Man Man contributed an original song to the soundtrack, which will be released via Sub Pop in January.

Directed by Josh Forbes, who has worked on music videos for the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen and the Offspring, the splatter-fest also features Thomas Lennon and Jon Daly.

Winter recently starred in a long-awaited followup to 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, 2020’s Bill & Ted Face the Music. “I remember [my co-star] Keanu [Reeves] and I looked at each other, and said, literally right before they called action, ‘Dude, no one’s ever going to see this movie. Nobody’s ever, ever going to see this movie,'” Winter told Rolling Stone of the first movie back in 2020. Decades later, and the series is a cult classic. Perhaps Winters’ latest kooky turn will also achieve that status.
