Bill Maher warns Trump could be 'president for life,' blasts media for not doing its job

Fresh off his interview with President Obama, Real Time host Bill Maher delivered a warning to all the “idealistic” young voters in America: Donald Trump is a fascist, and what do fascists do with power? They don’t give it up.

“Like they say in the action movies, s- just got real,” Maher began his address to this section of voters. “I know you’re young and idealistic, so I’ve heard these young people on the news and they say things like, Well, Donald Trump, I don’t like him, but Hillary, I can’t vote for a liar.’ I mean, first of all, it’s just apples and oranges - and orange. But, kids, I’ve been doing this for 23 years on TV, I’ve seen a lot, I know politics. This is different.”

Referring to Trump as a fascist, Maher said, “I promise [voting for Trump] will not make your life better. Once fascists get power, they don’t give it up. You’ve got President Trump for life.” (Assuming Trump doesn’t completely destroy the gears of democracy and the Constitution should he enter the White House, the most he could serve would be eight years.)

Maher admitted liberals made a mistake when they “cried wolf” when Republican candidates like George W. Bush and Mitt Romney ran for president. “Mitt Romney wouldn’t have changed my life that much or yours, or John McCain,” he said. “They were honorable men who we disagreed with and we should’ve kept it that way. So we cried wolf, and that was wrong - but this is real.”

With just a couple days before Election Day on Tuesday, Maher even went serious for his typically comedic opening monologue in which he blasted the media.

“It’s not f-ing funny,” he said. “There is a slow-moving right-wing coup going on. Media, do your f-ing job. Report on this.” Maher also noted how “the FBI has become politicized” and trying to sabotage Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

“Now, is it really surprising that guys and a building named after J. Edgar Hoover have issues with women? Perhaps not, but we have reached peak insanity here,” he said. “The Russians have created fake documents to discredit the Hillary campaign and the Trump campaign tweets them out as if they’re real. Republicans are trying to elect a sexually assaulting psychopath who is, if not a Russian agent, unwittingly working as one. And people in America are saying, Well, it’s better than Hillary.’ No it’s f-ing not!”
