Bill Maher: Obama Real Time guest appearance petition launched for host's 60th birthday

Bill Maher petitions Obama to come on 'Real Time' for 60th birthday

Bill Maher is turning 60 and he wants to celebrate with a high-profile guest. The comedian and host has launched a petition to land President Barack Obama as a guest on Real Time With Bill Maher.

“Before he leaves office, I want to get President Obama on this show,” Maher proclaimed on his HBO show. “And let’s just say our invitation has gotten lost in the mail for seven years, which would be okay except for the fact that in that time this president has done virtually every other show in the known universe — and I don’t just mean other comedian shows and other opinion-giver shows. I mean, Mr. President, you’ve done everything else but ultimate fighting and amateur porn.”

He continued, “Seriously, Sean Penn can get an interview with El Chapo but I can’t get on the president who’ll talk to the lady with the green lips?” (referring to Obama’s interview with YouTube star GloZell Green). Watch the full announcement above.

In an attempt to catch Obama’s attention, Maher launched a White House petition. It reads, “Herewith, on the occasion of Bill Maher’s 60th birthday, we the people, especially viewers of Real Time with Bill Maher, respectfully request that President Obama appear on Real Time and thereby honor that particular audience (and their support for him), as he has so honored the viewers of so many other TV shows and media outlets; or if not, to please, respectfully, tell us why.”

The petition requires 100,000 signatures for it to be earn a response from the White House, and it has nearly 49,000. The deadline for signatures is Feb. 14.
