Bill Maher books a show in Milwaukee on the eve of the 2024 Republican National Convention

The Republican National Convention will draw thousands of politicians, pundits, delegates and reporters to Milwaukee this summer, but entertainers are expected to play the city in and around the convention, too.

And the first such show has been announced, with political commentator and comedian Bill Maher.

The longtime host of "Real Time" on HBO and the "Club Random with Bill Maher" podcast since 2022 has booked a show at the Riverside Theater for July 14. The appearance is part of the newly announced "WTF? Tour," but the timing seems intentional: The RNC will kick off the next day.

Tickets, priced between $55.50 and $129.50 (not including fees or "premium" seats), go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Pabst Theater box office (144 E. Wells St.) and pabsttheater.org.

The RNC will be centered at Fiserv Forum July 15 to 18.
