Bill Hader is going from playing a hitman turned actor to leading the voice cast of an animated remake of Dr. SeussThe Cat in the Hat.

The movie will open in theaters on March 6th, 2026, with Hader’s The Cat joined by Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, and Paula Pell. Written and directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, The Cat in the Hat is a joint effort between Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

First published in 1957, The Cat in the Hat revolves around the titular anthropomorphic cat, known for his red-and-white striped top hat and red bow tie. In the book, he attempts to entertain a girl named Sally and her brother but wrecks their house in the process.

“We are overjoyed to partner with our friends at Dr. Seuss to take audiences of all ages on an adventure into the beloved world of The Cat in the Hat,” Warner Bros. Animation president Bill Damaschke said in a statement. “With this incredible voice cast led by Bill Hader as the fun-loving, agent of chaos himself and our filmmakers Alessandro and Erica at the helm, we look forward to sharing this Seussian cinematic spectacle with audiences everywhere in 2026.”

This isn’t the first time The Cat in the Hat has been adapted for the big screen. Back in 2003, Mike Myers starred in a widely panned live-action film that won a Razzie for Worst Excuse for an Actual Movie (All Concept/No Content).
