Bill Belichick Jokes That Travis Kelce Dating Taylor Swift 'Would Be the Biggest' Moment of NFL Star's Career

Everyone around the NFL is having fun with the potential romance playing out between the pop star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end

All eyes are on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift — including those of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick!

After the megastar singer attended Sunday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears, eight-time Super Bowl winner Belichick, 71, poked fun at the fairytale romance between Swift and Kelce, both 33.

On Monday morning, Belichick was asked about Swift and Kelce's relationship during an interview on The Greg Hill Show. "Well, I would say that Travis Kelce has had a lot of big catches in his career. This would be the biggest," he joked.

Belichick previously spoke about Swift on the same morning show in May after he attended one of the singer's Eras Tour stops at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where the Patriots play.

The NFL coach said he was wowed by Swift after seeing her perform through the rain at the concert.

"That was pretty impressive," Belichick said on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show at the time. "She’s tough, man. Just stood out there and played right through it."

When a host of the show asked Belichick if he "officially" considers himself a "Swiftie" after the show, he said, “Officially? I don’t know about that…” before confessing, “I’m definitely on the ‘You Got to Calm Down,’ ” referring to Swift’s 2019 hit song “You Need to Calm Down.”

“That’s a Swiftie!” the show's host confirmed in response.

The singer sat in Kelce’s suite with his mother, Donna Kelce, as she cheered for the tight end in videos that circulated on social media. Swift and Donna were all smiles throughout the game as the Chiefs defeated the Bears 41-10.

Kelce's head coach, Andy Reid, also poked fun at the rumored relationship and media frenzy after Sunday's game.

During a press conference after the victory, Reid joked as he told reporters, “I set them up.”

Rumors have swirled the last few weeks that the singer and the two-time Super Bowl champion are dating after the tight end revealed that he “threw the ball in her court” as he said to her, "I've seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead [Stadium]. You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one's a little more lit."

It was the first time the NFL star had publicly addressed rumors surrounding his love life. The saga first began in July when, after attending The Eras Tour, he revealed that he’d made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but was disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to give it to Swift.

As for Sunday’s game, a source told PEOPLE that the singer was happy to accept Kelce’s invite.

“Taylor is very focused on work right now and hanging out with her girlfriends,” the source said. “Travis invited her to the game, and of course she said 'yes.'”

The source added, “She just thought it was a fantastic way to spend Sunday.”
