John Stamos is a hotheaded basketball coach on the road to redemption in the first trailer for David E. Kelleyโ€™s Big Shot.

Premiering Friday, April 16, the Disney+ dramedy centers on Stamosโ€™ Marvyn Korn. After getting ousted from the NCAA, Coach Korn takes a job at Westbrook, an all-girls high school, where he soon learns that teenage girls โ€œrequire empathy and vulnerability โ€” foreign concepts for the stoic coach,โ€ according to the official logline. โ€œBy learning learning how to connect with his players, Korn starts to grow in to the person heโ€™s always hoped to be,โ€ while โ€œthe girls learn to take themselves more seriously, finding their footing both on and off the court.โ€

The trailer, which was first shared by EW.com, shows the inciting incident that got Korn booted from the college leagues. And itโ€™s clear from the get-go that Kornโ€™s new boss, Westbrook dean Sherilyn Thomas (played by Community grad Yvette Nicole Brown), has little-to-no confidence in her controversial hire.

Rounding out the cast are Jessalyn Gilsig (Vikings) as assistant coach Holly Barrett; Richard Robichaux (Boyhood) as George Pappas; Sophia Mitri Schloss (Sadie) as Emma Korn; Nell Verlaque (Bull) as Louise Gruzinsky; Tiana Le (Insecure) as Destiny Winters; Monique Green (black-ish) as Olive Cooper; Cricket Wampler (About a Boy) as Samantha โ€œGigglesโ€ Finkman; and newcomer Tisha Custodio as Carolyn โ€œMouseโ€ Smith.

Kelley executive-produces Big Shot alongside Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Bill Dโ€™Elia (Boston Legal) and Dean Lorey (Harley Quinn). Episodes will unspool weekly.
