‘Big Mouth': Netflix Comedy Teases Stop-Motion Christmas Episode in Season 5 Trailer (Video)

“Big Mouth” promises to deliver another season of raging hormones and raunchy humor in a new trailer for Netflix’s comedy series, which returns Nov. 5. Created by real-life best friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, “Big Mouth” has always been real about the roller coaster of physical and emotional changes that accompany puberty and middle school.

In Season 5, “Love and Hate” (personified by “lovebugs” and “hate worms”) is the prevailing theme, as characters clash over their newfound crushes and friendships.

“Love is in the air at Bridgeton Middle,” the trailer announces before Andrew (John Mulaney) reveals that Nick (Nick Kroll) has “got it bad” for Jessi (Jessi Klein) – until she publicly rejects him, sending Nick spiraling into heartbreak. Jessi and Ali (Ali Wong)’s increasingly close friendship (and perhaps more than friendship…?) infuriates Missy (Ayo Edibiri) when it threatens the dynamics of the friend group. Connie the Hormone Monstress (Maya Rudolph) leads the cast of puberty monsters and bugs that guide their teenagers through their many ups and downs.

The end of the trailer teases a switch-up from “Big Mouth”‘s usual format – a stop-motion “Very Big Mouth Christmas” episode! “We’re gonna have a couple laughs, sing a few songs and we’re gonna make a promise to you that no other Christmas special can: tonight, you’re gonna see Santa’s–” says one of the puberty monsters before it cuts to Lola (Nick Kroll)’s “Oh my god.”

Series regulars Fred Armisen, Jordan Peele and Jason Mantzoukas are joined by a constellation of new and returning guest stars this season. Among them, Adam Scott plays Mr. Keating, Jemaine Clement plays Simon Sex, Kristen Schaal plays Bernie, Kumail Nanjiani plays Kumail Nanjiani, and Chloe Fineman appears as Leah. Brandon Kyle Goodman is Nick’s lovebug, Walter, Missy’s hate worm Rochelle is voiced by Keke Palmer and Pamela Adlon joins as Jessi’s love bug, Sonya.

Each of the ten episodes will run 30 minutes long. Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg and screenwriter-directors Mark Levin & Jennifer Flackett are all creators and executive producers on the series, which was produced by Netflix.
