Big Emotional Reveals on ‘The Bachelor’

On Monday’s episode of The Bachelor, Ben chose Jubilee for a one-on-one date. When a helicopter arrived to whisk them off for a romantic day, Jubilee expressed a fear of heights and jokingly asked if anyone wanted to take her place on the date, which set the other girls off on a tirade of “How could she do that?” and “How could she say that?” — and if you listened really closely, you could hear the beginning rumblings of what’s become a franchise standard of “She’s not here for the right reasons.”

Ben and Jubilee continued on to their date, and after the helicopter ride and some time in a hot tub, they sat down to dinner, where Jubilee revealed that her fear of being unlovable and fear of rejection stem from the fact that her whole biological family has died. This was exactly the kind of deep conversation Ben had been looking for. He said “You are a strong woman. There’s a lot of depth to you. I want to get to know those layers.”

Later, before the rose ceremony, Ben told the women that he got a phone call from his family, revealing that two people very close to him had died the night before in a plane crash. The women, all still hoping for a rose, scrambled to figure out how they could provide comfort to him while simultaneously making an impression on him. Jubilee, who already had a rose from their date earlier, found just the thing to deepen their connection.
