Kate Micucci, best known for playing Lucy on The Big Bang Theory, revealed on TikTok over the weekend that she underwent a successful surgery following a lung cancer diagnosis.

“Hey everybody, this is not a TikTok — it’s a SickTok,” the 43-year-old actress begins. “I’m in the hospital, but it’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday. They caught it really early. It’s pretty weird, because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life.”

Naturally, the diagnosis “was a surprise” to Micucci, but she’s now grateful for the outcome: “they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good.”

“It’s been a little bit of a trip, and I’ll probably be moving slow for a few weeks, but then I’ll be back at it,” she adds. “I can’t wait to be painting more. I’ll be painting soon, I think. Why am I still talking? ‘Cause I’m on drugs!”

The TikTok then cuts to a recording of Micucci walking through the hospital with her IV drip, complimenting the “pretty nice” artwork hanging in the hallway.

In addition to recurring on The Big Bang Theory, Micucci is one half of the comedy music duo Garfunkel and Oates (along with Riki Lindhome); they led an eight-episode self-titled series on IFC in 2014. Other TV credits include memorable roles on Raising Hope, Another Period and Mom, to name just a few.

If animation is more your speed, you’ve likely heard Micucci bring one of her dozens of characters to life, including the new DuckTales‘ Webby Vanderquack and Velma in a string of recent Scooby-Doo! projects.
