A presidentially approved barbecue joint will open its second location – in College Hill.

Just Q'in BBQ will open at 5903 Hamilton Ave., inside the former location of MashRoots, which closed in August. It will also expand into an adjacent corner space at 5901 Hamilton Ave. shortly afterward, according to the College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation, which posted the news on its Facebook page.

The East Walnut Hills barbecue joint received national exposure earlier this year when President Joe Biden stopped in during a visit to Cincinnati to discuss a $1.6 billion federal investment to upgrade the Brent Spence Bridge.

Just Q'in will become yet another food destination on a stretch of Hamilton Avenue that is already home to Kiki, Brink Brewing, Tortilleria Garcia and Sleepy Bee Cafe.

"We are overjoyed to welcome Just Q’in BBQ to College Hill," said Kate Greene, CEO of the CHCURC, in a press release. "This establishment represents more than just a restaurant; it's a testament to the growth of our neighborhood."

"We are honored to become a part of the College Hill community and the outstanding work that’s already happening," added Matt Cuff, owner of Just Q’in. "Our mission of Faith. Love. BBQ means that BBQ is the tool we use to impact the lives of the people and community we serve. We look forward to joining the many other businesses in the neighborhood that are already doing incredible things."

No opening date was announced.

Last month, The Enquirer reported that Just Q'in was eyeing expansion in Dayton, Kentucky, but when The Enquirer reached out to a store manager at the East Walnut Hills location, she said those plans are currently on hold.
