Last week, a group of British filmmakers and film journalists launched the Cinema for Gaza auction to raise money for Palestinian medical aid, and for a few more days, you have the chance to support a vital cause while bidding on once-in-a-lifetime experiences offered by entertainment industry celebs, including beloved figures among the LGBTQ+ community.

The auction is being held in support of Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a London-based organization providing medical aid to Palestinians in response to medical emergencies as a result of Israel’s ongoing siege on Gaza which has killed more than 33,000 Palestinians and injured more than 75,000 in about six months.

There are currently 200 auction items listed on Cinema for Gaza’s website, many of which are bound to appeal to queer film lovers. Where else are you going to get the chance to enjoy Tilda Swinton reading you a bedtime story, or to discuss your favorite movie with Susan Sarandon? You can even score a personalized message from Olivia Colman herself!

In the melancholy drama, Paul Mescal delivers a subtle, powerfully moving performance.

Other notable celebrity offerings include a personalized map of Ayo Edebiri’s favorite restaurants and a Zoom call with the Bear star, and a signed Heartstopper rugby ball from Kit Connor.

Meanwhile, plenty of queer film creatives are also offering their time as part of the Cinema for Gaza auction. If Aftersun also reduced you to tears, then it’s my duty to inform you that director Charlotte Wells is auctioning off a personalized commentary track for the movie alongside producer Adele Romanski. Meanwhile, Bottoms director Emma Seligman is offering a tea-spilling session, and Slave Play writer Jeremy O. Harris wants to take you and a friend as his date to the play’s London premiere this summer.

If you’re hoping to break into film criticism, you can bid on a movie viewing and film review mentoring session with critic Jourdain Searles. Meanwhile, Them contributor Kyle Turner is offering a signed copy of his book The Queer Film Guide, as well as a queer movie night and a drink at Julius, New York City’s oldest gay bar.

The Cinema for Gaza auction is open until Friday, April 12 at 11:59 BST. You can learn more and view a full list of auction items here.
