Beyond Batman v Superman: What's Next for Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Rest of the Justice League Universe

With Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader and Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Batman v Superman debuted with a record-shattering $420 million opening weekend global gross – and left fans wanting more.

So what's next for the rest of the Justice League universe? Luckily, fans have a lot to look forward to. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have a full slate of superhero films through 2020, with Wonder Woman headlining her own solo outing, followed by The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg – each making his silver-screen debut.

Here is a quick breakdown of what's to come:

Suicide Squad

The upcoming film featuring a team of the world's most dangerous supervillains, out Aug. 5, 2016, is nearly completed. The cast wrapped filming in August and have been busy teasing the twisted spin-off ever since (think tattoos and gag gifts).

Along with one of comic lore's most famous villains, The Joker ( Jared Leto), anti-heroes Harley Quinn ( Margot Robbie), Deadshot ( Will Smith), Enchantress ( Cara Delevingne) and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) band together to defeat a mysterious enemy.

And fans will certainly be on the lookout for appearances by Batman v Superman stars Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor: The geekverse has been abuzz for months about possible cameos.

Wonder Woman

Fans were enamored by Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman, and soon, they will learn just how an immortal princess rose to become the unstoppable warrior we see today. Gal Gadot will be back to take on the titular character in her first top-billed film, out June 23, 2017, with Chris Pine starring as Steve Trevor.

"I am so happy to be the one who is going to tell the Wonder Woman story," Gadot said earlier this month at a Batman v Superman press event. "It is such an important story to tell. It is so important for girls and boys to have a female, strong, superhero to look up to."

And the female empowerment doesn't stop with Gadot – the film is being directed by Monster helmer Patty Jenkins.

Justice League – Part One

The first of two Justice League crossovers, which will arrive in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017, sees DC's most iconic superheroes joining forces to save the world from an enigmatic threat. Affleck and Cavill will be back as the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel, while Gadot makes her third appearance as Wonder Woman.

Although filming for the movie begins in just a few weeks, plot details are being kept top-secret.

The Flash

While The Flash (Ezra Miller) had a small cameo in Batman v Superman and appears in the Justice League film, it doesn't take long for the speedy hero to take center stage. Details of the film are still under wraps, but it will focus on the character Barry Allen and his ability to move lightning-fast. The film opens in theaters on March 16, 2018.

Aquaman

Momoa takes on the role of the King of the Seven Seas desperately trying to protect the entire world in Aquaman's first stand-alone film, arriving on July 27, 2018.

"There's so many things to tell, and there's a whole backstory that's just amazing," Momoa told Entertainment Weekly. "He's been cast aside [in the past]. But um, times are going to change now buddy."

It's also been revealed that Amber Heard has signed on to play Mera, the undersea queen and wife of Aquaman in the film.
