Beyonce' and Jay Z Cause Mass Hysteria On Twitter With Their Late Golden Globes Arrival
As far as awards ceremonies go the annual Golden Globes are kind of a big deal. And as far as celebrity couples go, Jay-Z and Beyonce are an ever huger deal. They influence trends and continuously make music for the culture that leads with love, self-awareness and power. So naturally, they would be expected to make an appearance at the Golden Globes this year since being in the public eye is part of their job description. So they showed up, but on their own terms.

When they arrived at the awards many were stunned to see them, and not just because they were an hour late. From Complex;
Ace of Spades champagne was on the menu for JAY-Z and Beyoncé at Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony.As Page Six points out, a photo from the night's proceedings shows a bodyguard with the couple holding bottles of the JAY-backed brand of champagne as they're waiting to take their seats. The Globes, of course, are a Moët & Chandon-sponsored awards show.
Of course, once the King and Queen of Everything arrived everyone else knew nobody cared about them anymore so they deferred to the Carters. And Twitter lost their entire minds because nobody was expecting them to show up. One user wrote "We live for a fashionably late icon couple" and another, noticing how one man literally turned to follow Queen Bey as she strolled past him, commented "Okay wait. Who is that creepy old grey haired dude who turned around and started following her? We must protect Beyonce at all costs."
However there's another moment featuring Beyonce and Golden Globe winner Joaquin Phoenix that has the Beyhive buzzing with opinions. Hollywood Life reports that when Phoenix won his award Beyonce remained seated while all others rose with applause. This, of course, made people question why she didn't rise as well, which set the Beyhive off immediately.
“Joaquin Phoenix winning for Joker and receiving a standing ovation from everyone… except Beyonce. Love.” “Beyoncé only accepts standing ovations, she does not GIVE them. (Love my boi Joaquin doe)” “I appreciate Beyoncé for not standing up for Joaquin’s win.” “In Beyonce’s defense, f*ck Joaquin Phoenix.”
Whoah, that escalated quickly. However, one user offered a simple solution to squash all of the speculation;
The puffy gold sleeves on her form-fitting dress, while a dramatic statement, aren’t the most aerodynamic. “Let’s not create any mess here. She most likely didn’t stand because she would be in the way when he walked by. She smiled and clapped,” one user tweeted.
This is probably the most likely explanation since Beyonce already arrived late and brought her own bottles to the party. Knocking Phoenix over with her wing sized shoulder puffs probably would have been the third strike to get her and Jay-Z both escorted out of the building.
