In honor of the one-year anniversary of her Lemonade album, Beyoncé has launched a scholarship program aimed towards young women to follow their passions and dreams through education.

The powerhouse singer announced the Formation Scholars awards on April 24, marking the very day Lemonade was released last year. There will be four scholarships to be awarded in the 2017-2018 school year, allowing students to pursue and focus their ambitions in the arts and humanities. “To encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious, and confident,” are the many criteria the icon is looking for in a scholar.

The scholarships are working with four different colleges — Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College to find nominees for the prestigious award. One student from each school will then be selected for the scholarship as long as their study of focus is in creative arts, music, literature, or African-American area of studies.

Lemonade encompasses the very vision of strong women through literature, culture and music — the perfect example of inspiring young girls to pursue their own interest in the arts.
