I have a feeling Dolly Parton would love Beyoncé's latest hairstyle. The Cowboy Carter musician just took the “Beyhive” concept literally with the updo, a bouffant French twist with a retro, '60s vibe.

Bey gave us a full 360-degree look at her platinum blonde twist, which she wore while sightseeing in Japan alongside her husband Jay-Z. Her hair was teased up high at the front for the signature “va va voom” of a bouffant, then gathered into a full, precise roll at the back, a.k.a. the very definition of the perfect French twist.

Two small pieces of hair were pulled out from the updo and softly curled to frame her face, spotlighting the ice blue eye shadow that matched her baby blue suede jacket, shorts, and boots. The sparkly blue is concentrated at the inner section of her eyes, with a glimmer of the same shade brushed under her lower lashline. If Beyoncé says it's cool to match your eye makeup to your outfit, we're listening! A nude lip gloss and simple nude mani kept all the focus on her hair and eyes.

Beyoncé has really been feeling the platinum blonde in her Cowboy Carter era. For the iHeart Radio Awards on April 1, her extra-long waves just kept flowing on and on beneath her cowboy hat, and she wore an icier, more silver-toned twist on the color for the album cover art.

You don't have to be Beyoncé to rock a voluminous French twist; with a little practice, you can easily craft a similar look at home. It's all about the art of the tease, then brushing and pinning your hair just so to sculpt the timeless updo. There are a plethora of French twist tutorials, but this simple how-to from the Allure archives is just as classic as the hairstyle itself. Get your bobby pins ready!
