Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' to be submitted for Emmy consideration
Beyoncé’s visual album, Lemonade, debuted on HBO Saturday night and though it was only available on the network for 27 hours, the hour-long project is eligible for an Emmy. HBO confirmed to EW that they have plans to submit Lemonade for Emmy consideration in the Variety Special category.
The credits on the visual album include directors Beyoncé and Kahlil Joseph, and additional directors Melina Matsoukas, Todd Tourso, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jonas Akerlund, and Mark Romanek. It’s unclear who will be submitted for Emmy consideration.
Beyoncé has been nominated for two Emmys — one for her Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show in 2013 and one for the On the Run Tour concert special with Jay Z. Last year, Saturday Night Live‘s 40th anniversary special won in the Variety Special category.
After Lemonade premiered on HBO, the album became available to stream exclusively on Tidal. A day later the collection was available to purchase on iTunes and Amazon.
