In a practically unprecedented moment, the entire Carter family made an appearance on Monday. In fact, they made multiple appearances! Beyoncé and Jay-Z gave a rare look at their children, Blue Ivy, 7, and twins Rumi and Sir, 2, as part of Bey’s Making the Gift documentary. The special, aired Sept. 16 on ABC, took fans on a behind-the-scenes journey into Beyoncé’s making of The Lion King: The Gift album — and, bonus, that included several intimate moments shared by the whole Carter fam.
To quickly recap, ABC’s hyped the debut of the documentary on Twitter, going as far as changing its handle to “ABeyC” over the weekend. And, c’mon, this is Queen Bey we’re talking about, so you know the special didn’t disappoint. In addition to giving insight into how Beyoncé recorded the tracks on the album and the work that went into the music videos, fans got to hear why the entire project was so meaningful to the music icon.

Not to mention they got to see how Beyoncé and Jay-Z made the experience a true family affair. This means getting to finally lay eyes on the couple’s twins and get to see their know their little personalities. In one scene, Rumi sits on Beyoncé’s lap as Bey asks her daughter, “What does the cat do?” Stealing the world’s heart, Rumi replies, “Meow.” That clip also includes Rumi giggling, and who else votes for an album of just that sweet sound?

In another scene, the family hangs out together on a flight over to Africa. Later, Beyoncé narrates the family’s arrival and, as the camera pans around the vehicle, you can see babies Rumi and Sir buckled into their car seats beside their mom.

Don’t worry: Blue Ivy was definitely featured prominently too. The precocious 7-year-old we’ve all come to know and love over the years was a total star, as per the norm. In one cool moment, Blue can be seen in the recording studio when she laid down her vocals for “Brown Skin Girl.”

Are you sufficiently in your feels? Yeah, us too. But just to drive the point home, we’ll leave you with this sweet sentiment Beyonce shared in the special about being a mom. “When you’re a mother, there’s a love that you experience with your kids that’s deeper than anything you can imagine,” she said. “The love is beyond Earth and beyond time and space, and it’s a connection that will be constant.”
