Beyoncé celebrated her birthday to the fullest on Monday night (Sept. 4) with an immaculate Renaissance World Tour stop filled with unforgettable moments. The superstar rang in her 42nd lap around the sun with over 60,000 fans, special surprises, and even an appearance from the iconic Diana Ross, who took the stage to sing “Happy Birthday.”

The night, however, wouldn’t be complete without a sentimental speech about how far the Houston icon has come. Before singing her vulnerable B’Day cut “Flaws And All,” the Grammy award-winner took the stage to deliver some words of gratitude.

“My heart is full. My soul is full. I’m so thankful, I’m trying not to cry,” Beyoncé told the Los Angeles crowd as she paused for a moment to hold back tears. “I’m thankful to be alive. I’m thankful to be on stage. I’m thankful to look out and see your faces. I’m thankful to be able to provide a safe space for all of y’all. I’m thankful for music, for the ability to heal myself through music which then heals all of you. I’m thankful for every tear, for every year.”

She then went on to give individual shoutouts to people in her life who were instrumental to her journey, including her husband JAY-Z, her parents, and the original members of Destiny’s Child. “I’m thankful for my children. I’m thankful for my husband. I’m thankful for all the sh*t we’ve been through,” she declared. “I’m thankful for my beautiful father, who is here tonight… I’m thankful for my mother, my beautiful queen… I’m thankful for Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, LaToya, LaTavia Roberson.”

The “Crazy In Love” performer then took it home by reminding listeners that imperfections are a part of life. “I’m thankful for all of you guys who have been with me since 1997. I’m thankful for every flaw, every stretch mark, every fupa… I thank you that I’m here at f**king 42. I’m thankful for joy, and I thank you God,” she concluded as the crowd roared.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour kicked off on May 10 in Stockholm, Sweden, before winding through all of Europe until the end of June. The North American leg of the tour commenced in Toronto in July and will come to a grand finale in New Orleans on Sept. 27. The trek has consisted of multiple sold-out shows in major cities like Atlanta and Los Angeles, and the singer is set to deliver an extra special show on Sept. 23 in her home city of Houston.
