Thirty years later, Axel Foley has returned.

On Thursday, Netflix debuted the first trailer for “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” – better known, at least for SEO purposes, as “Beverly Hills Cop 4” – the fourth film in the blockbuster “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise that helped turn star Eddie Murphy into one of the biggest actors of the modern era. Murphy last played Detroit cop Axel Foley in 1994’s “Beverly Hills Cop 3.”

This new film, long in development, brings the whole band back together. In addition to Murphy as the title character, original stars Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot will all appear in the legacyquel. New cast members include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kevin Bacon, and Taylour Paige.

Here’s the synopsis from Netflix:

Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.

Mark Molloy directed the new film with a script from Will Beall, Tom Gormican, and Kevin Etten. The project will debut on Netflix next summer.
