Megan Thee Stallion won a leading four awards Sunday at the BET Awards, which took place live from the Microsoft Theater and was hosted by Taraji P. Henson. The ceremony aired in front of a live, fully vaccinated crowd and aired on BET, BET Her, Logo, MTV, MTV2, TV Land and VH1.
Stallion won best female hip-hop artist, best collaboration and best video of the year for “Wap” with Cardi B, and the viewers’ choice award for “Savage” with Beyoncé.

Other winners included Chris Brown winning best male R&B/Pop Artist, and Oscar winner H.E.R. for female R&B/Pop Artist. Speaking of Oscars, nominees Andra Day and Chadwick Boseman won best actress and best actor, while Judas and the Black Messiah won best film. Day performed “Strange Fruit” and “Tigress & Tweed” from The United States vs. Billie Holiday during the show.
Other performers included Stallion, H.E.R., Migos, Da Baby and more, with Kirk Franklin and Lil Baby opening the show signing “We Win” from the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy movie.
The annual awards celebrate the year in Black music, TV, film, sports and social impact and this edition touted the “year of the Black woman,” with Queen Latifah receiving the Lifetime Achievement BET Award. There was also a tribute to rapper DMX, who died in April at age 50,.
