When it comes to movies and TV shows we’ve been thirsty to see, it feels like a good vampire story is always the right way to go. Over the course of the last several years, there’ve been a number of entries into the vampire-centric genre that really stood out amongst some of our favorite horror fare. And now that the long-awaited vampire film Abigail is here, we’ve rounded up a few more vampire movies and TV shows that are perfect for audiences to sink their teeth into.
Along with these two additions, which feature more humor than you might associate with a vampire flick, there are also plenty of horror-oriented tales and classics we couldn’t pass up. And of course, just for the nostalgia trip, we included Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel for good measure.

‘Love at First Bite’ (1979)
If you are looking for campy, romantic fun, then look no further than the 1979 film Love at First Bite, which is a comedy horror film starring Susan Saint James as Cindy Sondheim and George Hamilton as Count Vladimir Dracula.
In the film, Dracula goes to NYC to find Cindy, the woman he believes to be the reincarnation of the woman he’s loved forever.
‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ (1997-2003)
Let’s start with one of the most beloved teen series of the late ’90s. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an absolute icon of the genre. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar in the title role, Buffy navigates high school, relationships, and the duty to protect our world from supernatural forces with the help of her friends.

‘Angel’ (1999-2004)
After the success of Buffy, Angel came along in 1999. The spin-off series followed the title character, played by David Boreanaz, in his journey through Los Angeles. Unlike other vampires, Angel is cursed with having a soul, and uses his abilities to aid those who have supernatural problems of their own.

‘Being Human’ (2008-2013)
Being Human was a BBC series that ran from 2008-2013 and followed the stories of three roomates — a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost. While they try to keep their existence a secret, darker forces seek to draw them out.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ (2009-2017)
In the town of Mystic Falls, nothing is as it seems. When dark forces descend up on the idyllic Virginia community, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is forced to confront the evil that lurks around every corner in The Vampire Diaries. Amidst the life and death circumstances, she’s also torn between two vampire brothers Stefon and Damon Salvatore (Paul Wesley and Iam Somerhalder).

What We Do in the Shadows is the 2019 series inspired by the 2014 film of the same name. A documentary crew follows four vampires and a familiar throughout Staten Island. Their misadventures are wildly entertaining, and the series’ sardonic humor and tone makes this ghoulish watch even more frightfully fun.

‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (1992)
Now, let’s sink our teeth into some vampire films. 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula is completely haunting. Adapting the novel into one of the most visually compelling vampire movies on this list, Francis Ford Coppola’s film is scary, sexy, and an absolute feast for the eyes.

‘What We Do in the Shadows’ (2014)
2014’s What We Do in the Shadows takes a hilarious look at the lives of vampires living amongst us. A group of vampire roommates have their every move documented by a mortal crew, as they find new victims, keep up with their flat, and more in this raucous and bloody film from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi.

‘Let The Right One In’ (2008)
Let The Right One In takes the coming of age story and gives it a sinister, spooky edge. The Swedish horror film follows Oskar, a bullied young boy who finds refuge with Eli — a peculiar child. As Eli’s true identity comes to light, Oskar does everything he can to protect the young vampire.
