When is the best time to take a bathroom break during 'Killers of the Flower Moon'?

The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, depicts the 'Reign of Terror' in Oklahoma, a string of murders of the Osage people, who had become some of the wealthiest people in the world when oil was discovered on their allotted land.

"Killers of the Flower Moon" officially clocks in at three hours and 26 minutes. That actually makes it three minutes shorter than Scorcese's 2019 gangster saga "The Irishman," which runs three hours and 29 minutes. 

But you'll need to prepare to spend at least four hours in the theater, since you can expect about 20 minutes in previews before the show.

Don't worry, 'Killers of the Flower Moon' will hold your attention

Could "Killers of the Flower Moon" be shorter? Yes. But that doesn't mean it's too long, considering the scope of the story its makers are trying to tell.

Much like David Grann's best-selling nonfiction book that is the basis for Scorsese's masterwork, "Killers of the Flower Moon" is a slow-burn thriller that will keep you mesmerized even if you already know the real-life story.

I've seen it twice so far, and I haven't left my seat until the credits played out either time.

Of note, there's no post-credit scene, but it was fun as a lifelong Okie to spot familiar names of people and places in the credits.

When should I go to the bathroom during 'Killers of the Flower Moon'?

If you simply must take a break, my recommendation is to aim around the 1 1/2-hour mark.

For me, the movie hits a bit of a lag in that spot, as the focus shifts from Osage main character Mollie Burkhart (the fantastic Lily Gladstone, who has earned her spot in the Oscar conversation) to the machinations of her husband Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), his uncle William Hale (Robert De Niro), and the motley crew of ne'er-do-wells they've assembled to murder wealthy Osage citizens for their oil money.

Another good time to take a bathroom break occurs when DiCaprio's character is taken into custody by the FBI. Although there is some relevant information that comes during the interrogation process, the scene goes on for quite a while and is set up for the actual trial that comes afterward.
