The Best Thing I Ate This Week: Weekend brunch returns to The Majestic Grille in Memphis.

Brunch is back at The Majestic Grille.

After a year-long hiatus, weekend brunch at this popular Downtown restaurant officially started the weekend of Sept. 16, with brunch being served Saturdays 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m.-3.p.m.

The Majestic will relaunch Brunch with some familiar dishes, but the culinary team has been busy creating new dishes as well as elevating some classics.

New dishes like Harissa chicken hash, carbonara flatbread and an asparagus, roasted red pepper & goat cheese frittata will join classics like steak and eggs, eggs benedict and shrimp and grits.

A selection of sweet and savory breads and pastries from newly opened Hive Bagel & Deli will also be available as a tasty accompaniment to your meal.

Also being introduced is The Sunday Roast, available as the name says — only on Sundays is a nod to chef and owner Patrick Reilly’s Irish roots and his time spent early in his career at Michelin starred restaurants in London.

This offering, which will change seasonally, will debut as a whole bone-in Newman Farm pork rack served with Yorkshire Pudding, apple sauce, green beans almondine and roasted potatoes.

“Sunday Roast was a traditional Sunday afternoon mainstay when we were growing up. It was an opportunity for families to dine together and was ubiquitous in fine dining restaurants, hotel dining rooms and pubs. It’s really making a comeback in places like Dublin, London and New York,” said Reilly. “It’s different than brunch – less an extension of Saturday night…a bit more grown up if you will and fits into the more refined and elegant Sunday experience we’ll be offering at The Majestic moving forward.”

A robust cocktail and coffee and tea program will complement the food offerings, including LavAzza coffees and the return of the popular Majestic Mimosas and house made Bloody Mary. Other highlights include a Vanilla Espresso Martini topped with chocolate espresso beans from Dinstuhl’s located next door, a Wicklow 75 — a twist on a French 75 with Glendalough Rose Gin, and No-Mosas, non-alcoholic, house made fruit spritzers for those looking for spirit free, yet still festive brunch beverage options.

The Majestic Grille will also be open for dinner on Sunday nights.

“We always strive to be part of the solution, and we’re excited to have the opportunity to help re-invigorate Sundays and Downtown in general” said Lauren Walker, The Majestic Grille's general manager. “Prior to the pandemic, Sundays Downtown were always an easy going, local day with the streets bustling, families enjoying meals, visiting museums and listening to music in the afternoons. That has faltered a bit post-pandemic, but with the new Tom Lee Park and the recently opened mobility center providing even more safe and convenient parking, we hope to be another catalyst for continuing a return to vibrancy.”
